IBM’s Security Product Professional Services (PPS) for i2 is leading the fight to provide cutting edge software solutions to our broad range of customers to help make the world a safer place through more sophisticated security solutions.
We work on a day-to-day basis with National Security, Law Enforcement, Defense and Government Agencies, as well as commercial organizations across North America, to help them protect citizens, ensure public safety, combat cyber and criminal threats, as well as to help protect banks, insurers, and other organizations from fraud and financial crimes.
This world offers continuous challenges as we continue to adapt to meet the continual needs of our customers to derive new insight into their data – at its heart our i2 portfolio is all about providing them the ability to turn information into informed decisions by finding the non-obvious patterns in their data through complex analytics and visualisations. We help them figure out the who, what, when and how, so that their operations teams can perform their mission safely and armed with the facts to make the right call. This could anything from stopping a fraudulent payment in real time, or arresting the right person after a multi-year investigation.
By joining the i2 Lab Services team within the dynamic Security PPS organization, you are really where the action is – with the responsibility of taking our products, and implementing them successfully for our customers. However, this is more than just product installation. We are involved in all types of engagements, including; requirements gathering and technical designs, complex enterprise deployments, data modelling and generation of analytical models, development of bespoke extensions and plug-ins, providing enablement and domain expertise and pre and post-sales support.
The i2 Lab Services consultant is responsible for the successful implementation of our products and solutions for our customers, including delivery activities across the whole life cycle of a project.
This is a challenging but extremely rewarding role, requiring a blend of analytical, technical and client facing ‘softer’ skills. Our consultants are expected to be able to listen, understand our customers’ requirements and turn those into working software. That often means also having to overcome any technical related issues and dependencies that are always a part of any project in the real world. Get that however and there is nothing like the positive feeling you get from seeing a happy customer, and your work truly making a difference.
The main duties are:
Deployment of our i2 software products to meet specific customer use cases:
Intelligence Analysis for Law Enforcement, Defense and National Security
Fraud Analytics and Investigations in Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, Tax and other commercial or government organisations.
Assisting solution architects in the design of more complex or cross-brand solutions.
Conducting requirements gathering and solution workshops.
Data modelling and transformation to turn our customers source information into a form they can leverage within the product.
Configuration and testing of multi-server installations, including security, external data connectivity, analytics and other capabilities.
Delivering showcases, presentations and knowledge transfer to the customer’s technical staff and users.
Delivering both production systems, but also assisting with proof-of-concept or proof-of-technology deployments to assist with new sales opportunities or business development.
Occasional development of custom data connectors or ANB extensions, or 3 rd party integrations based on specific customer requirements
Occasional pre-sales demonstrations and presentations
Occasional delivery of technical enablement to our partners or customers.
In addition to these duties, employees are expected to undertake other duties as may reasonably be required in order to fully perform the role or the changing nature of the business.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
5 years of applicable experience
Demonstrable experience on large scale applications and solutions in complex and challenging technical environments
Demonstrate experience of working with the i2 product family (ANB, iBase, EIA, i2Analyze, Identity Insight, COGNOS)
Demonstrate experience of working with ETL tooling (e.g. DataStage, Microsoft IIS, Informatica, etc.)
Demonstrate experience of working with relational databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
Demonstrate experience of working with IBM WebSphere
Delivery-oriented and ability to work under pressure in a complex business environment
An ability to collaborate with the senior leadership and clients' customer teams
An attitude of quality, diligence and thoroughness is essential; the successful candidate will display a commitment to continuous improvement of processes and deliverables
Good verbal and written communication skills need to be demonstrated. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and present ideas clearly
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Demonstrate experience with related IBM product delivery (IBM Case Manager, IBM Content Analytics, Identity Insight, Pure Data Operational Analytics, Netezza, Cognos, SPSS, IIB)
Demonstrate experience with Linux RedHat operating system
Industry experience in Link Analysis, Investigations, or Fraud Analytics
