Position Overview

Weare seeking a Registered Nurse for a Clinical Coordinator position in ourCritical Care department. Reporting to the Director of Critical Care, theClinical Coordinator will demonstrate competency as a Clinical Coordinator byplanning, organizing, and managing the personnel and resources in order toprovide the highest quality care with trained, professional, and competentstaff in the most cost effective and productive manner.


  • Demonstratesan advanced level of clinical skills and the ability to assist others toachieve quality care skills

  • Delegatesappropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions,license requirements, and standards of practice

  • Schedulesemployee shifts and ensures admitting and discharge functions are providing foroptimal patient flow

  • Utilizesresources in an efficient and cost effective manner

  • Participatesin developing other staff and affiliating students

  • Maintainsand develops professional and unit-based competencies

  • Maintainsand promotes a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration

  • Assistsin interdepartmental service coordination

  • Assumesa leadership role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care deliverysystem

  • Assistsin directing and guiding staff in the coordination of unit operations

  • Supportsthe multi-skilled worker environment (i.e., cross training)

  • Cross-trainsand willingly works in other areas of the hospital accepting assignments withincompetency level, as needed

  • Effectivelyapplies prioritization and time management to patient s care

  • Assistsin all aspects of care in the environment

PatientCare Responsibilities

  • Completesadmission assessment and periodic reassessments according to patient s progressand/or unit protocols and age-specific parameters

  • Documentsfindings and communicates all pertinent information to interdisciplinary teammembers as appropriate

  • Collaborateswith interdisciplinary team members in the development, evaluation, andrevision of the plan of care as appropriate to meet the patient s needs andgoals

  • Providescompetent direct care and ensures the provision of a safe and comfortingenvironment resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction

  • Assistshealthcare team members in the understanding of hospital policies andprocedures

  • Provideseducation to patients/families/significant others, incorporating age-specificcriteria and assessment of readiness to learn

  • Maintainspatient confidentiality

  • Maintainsstandard precautions

  • Administersmedications and completes treatments according to hospital policy and withinage-specific parameters

  • Facilitatesdischarge plan in collaboration with interdisciplinary team

  • Demonstratesknowledge and ability to use necessary patient care equipment

  • Coordinatesresponse of the interdisciplinary team to emergency situations

  • PerformsPoint of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy andprocedure

  • Documentsrequired information and complies with all Point of Care quality controlstandards


  • Minimum of an Associate s Degree inNursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program required. Bachelor s Degree inNursing (BSN) preferred

  • Minimum 5 yearsof experience in a hospital setting required

  • Management experience strongly preferred

  • Current license to practice as aRegistered Nurse in Texas

  • American Heart Association (AHA)approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) required within90 days
